SIU Concludes Investigation into Dog Bite Injuries Suffered by Man in London

Case Number: 24-OCI-232

Mississauga, ON (27 September, 2024) ---
In the early morning of June 2, 2024, London Police Service officers were dispatched to a residence after the resident had contacted police to report that her ex-partner had broken in. An officer arrived on scene and observed the person of interest, a 29-year-old man, run into a park. Officers, including a dog handler, entered the park. A short time later, the police dog located and bit the man and held onto him. The man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment of lacerations. On his assessment of the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s arrest and injury.
