SIU Concludes Investigation into Brampton Arrest

Case Number: 24-OCI-118

Mississauga, ON (10 July, 2024) ---
In the evening of March 11, 2024, Peel Regional Police (PRP) officers located a vehicle parked in the parking lot outside a Brampton restaurant. The vehicle was registered to a 26-year-old man who was wanted on warrants held by multiple police services. When the man exited the restaurant, he was arrested by officers. When the man complained of pain at the police station, he was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a spinal fracture. On his assessment of the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s arrest and injury.
