On June 15, 2023, a 57-year-old man passed away, the result of a fall from a fourth-floor hotel window. As Toronto Police Service officers were present outside his hotel room and on the street below at the time, the SIU was notified and initiated an investigation. The investigation is now concluded. On his assessment of the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s death.
