SIU Investigating the Discharge of a Less-Lethal Firearm at a Young Man in North Bay

Case Number: 21-OFP-181

Mississauga, ON (11 June, 2021) ---
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discharge of an Anti-Riot Weapon Enfield (ARWEN) by a North Bay Police Service (NBPS) officer at a young male (age unknown at this time) in the area of Ski Club Road, North Bay.

Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.

One NBPS officer was designated as subject officer and three other officers were designated as witness officers.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
