SIU Concludes Fatal Hamilton Collision Investigation
SIU Updates Investigation into Fatal Hamilton Collision
The SIU was notified that an officer from the Hamilton Police Service (HPS) attempted to stop a Volvo for investigation on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway. The driver of the Volvo did not stop. Near the area of Dartnall Road, the Volvo lost control and struck two other civilian vehicles.
The single male occupant in the Volvo died at the scene. Three persons who were in the two other vehicles were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with undetermined injuries. The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending positive identification and notification of next-of-kin.
The SIU has assigned eight investigators, including two forensic identification technicians and a collision reconstructionist, to investigate the nature and extent of HPS involvement in the fatal collision. One HPS officer has been designated as a subject officer, while two others have been designated as witness officers. SIU investigators are currently identifying and interviewing witnesses.
A post mortem examination will be conducted today in Hamilton.
The SIU is appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to contact the Unit at 416-622-1988 or 1-800-787-8529.
