Mississauga, ON (23 October, 2026) ---
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the death of a 57-year-old man after he fled Kawartha Lakes Police Service officers in Lindsay, entered a waterway and failed to resurface early this morning.

Preliminary information suggests the following:
  • On the morning of October 23, 2026, Kawartha Lakes Police Service officers were investigating a break-and-enter and located a male suspect. The man fled. Officers chased him to the area of the Lindsay Street Bridge when the man entered the water.
  • Officers attempted to assist the man before he went under water. The man’s body was recovered this morning and he was pronounced deceased in hospital.
Two investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.
