The province’s Special Investigations Unit has found there are no grounds to charge a Brantford Police Service officer after a man he attempted to stop was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in March 2021.
On March 31, 2021, the officer followed a driver as there was a warrant for his arrest on robbery charges. The pursuit came to end when the man lost control of his motorcycle, entered oncoming traffic and was thrown from the bike. Paramedics took the man to hospital where he was diagnosed with fractures to his left leg and hand.
The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Joseph Martino, has found no basis for criminal charges in this case and closed the file.
