Mississauga, ON (23 September, 2024) ---
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is seeking anyone who may have witnessed an interaction involving a Halton Regional Police Service officer that resulted in the serious injury of a man at the Acton Fall Fair on Friday night.

Preliminary information suggests the following:
  • At about 11:20 p.m. on September 20, 2024, in the parking lot area of the fair, a paid duty officer attempted to arrest a 54-year-old man for a reported assault.
  • There was an interaction and the man became unresponsive.
  • EMS assessed the man and transported him to hospital in Georgetown. The man has been transferred to a Mississauga hospital where he is in critical condition.
Three investigators have been assigned to the case. One subject official and three witness officials have been designated at this time.

At the time of the interaction, reported to have occurred in the parking lot near the Dufferin Rural Heritage Community Centre on Park Avenue, it is believed there were individuals in the area possibly recording the incident with cellphones. The SIU is seeking these individuals to come forward as witnesses to the incident.
