Case Number: 20-OCI-022

Mississauga, ON (16 June, 2020) ---
On January 31, 2020, criminal investigation bureau (CIB) officers from Peel Regional Police were following a stolen van. As the van entered the City of King, the driver lost control of the van and drove into a snowbank at 16th Sideroad and Dufferin Street. As the 31-year-old female driver and her passenger attempted to remove the van from the snowbank, CIB officers moved in to arrest them. The driver was later taken to hospital where she was found to have sustained a broken right-handed finger. The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Joseph Martino, has determined there is no basis for proceeding with criminal charges in this case.
