No Criminal Wrongdoing in Relation to Interaction with Man in Cornwall Police Station Booking Room

Case Number: 18-OCI-124

Mississauga, ON (14 February, 2019) ---
On the night of April 21, 2018, a Cornwall Community Police Service (CCPS) officer was dispatched to a call of a domestic nature. The officer arrested a person of interest and transported him to the police station. While in the booking room, there was an interaction between the 23-year-old man and a police officer. A second officer – who had left the booking room – returned to assist. The man was handcuffed and placed into a cell. The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Tony Loparco, has determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against a CCPS officer in relation to the serious injury sustained by the man.
