Mississauga, ON (22 February, 2026) ---
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 48-year-old man yesterday in Paisley.

Preliminary information suggests the following:
  • Throughout the day on February 21, 2026, the man is alleged to have committed multiple motor vehicle thefts and residential break-and-enters in several jurisdictions, including the theft of a firearm.
  • As the day unfolded, police made several attempts to locate the man. They located him in the afternoon driving a stolen vehicle. A tire deflation device was deployed, resulting in the stolen vehicle leaving the roadway. The man fled on foot.
  • The man was located in the area of Sideroad 13 and Bruce-Saugeen Townline. Outside of a residence, there was an interaction between the man and officers. An officer discharged his firearm and the man was struck.
  • Life-saving measures were initiated. The man was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Four investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case. The post-mortem is scheduled for tomorrow.
