SIU Concludes Investigation into Kitchener Arrest

Mississauga, ON (6 January, 2026) ---
Please be advised that a Director’s Report for case 25-OCI-330, published on December 22, 2025, has been amended to correct two errors.

Firstly, the initial date under Records Obtained from Other Sources has been corrected from August 2, 2025, to August 27, 2025. Secondly, in the fourth paragraph of the Analysis and Director’s Decision, it has been corrected from: “The officer had reason to believe that the SO was violent and had access to weapons” to “The officer had reason to believe that the Complainant was violent and had access to weapons.”

The SIU regrets the errors.

  • depending on the evidence, cause a criminal charge to be laid against the official where grounds exist for doing so, or close the file without any charges being laid
  • publicly report the results of its investigations
